Introduction to Projects and Project Management

Patrick is the Operations Director for ClarkMorgan and holds an MBA specialising in International Business and a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute. He studied cultural anthropology and East Asian Studies from Loyola University – Chicago.
Patrick has leveraged his Project Management skills to initiate, plan, execute, control, and close a multitude of projects. These projects range from small internal departmental policy changes to implementing companywide IT/IS deployments. He has held project management roles in the service, retail, transportation, energy, IT, education, consulting, and training fields over the past 20 years.
In this two day course, trainees will be introduced to the fundamental elements of how to manage a project. The five stages of a project, Initiation, Planning, Executing, Monitoring & Controlling, and Closing will be gone over and special tools to help manage these stages will be demonstrated. In addition, nine knowledge areas that impact how a project is run and need to be considered will be introduced. These are: Cost, Time, Scope, Quality, HR, Communications, Procurement, Risk, and Integration.
By the end of the workshop, trainees will be able to:

• Differentiate between a project, a routine process, and what makes projects and project management unique.
• Use several tools to spotlight project assumptions that can positively or negatively affect project success.
• Identify and focus on project constraints that need to be considered for successful project completion.
• Strategize several ways to manage key project stakeholders and how to communicate with them.
• Create goals that impact the business through the use of ClarkMorgan’s SMARTEST approach.
• Forecast the needs of their team and plan projects and hiring in line with strategic objectives.
• Identify and focus on project constraints that need to be considered for successful project.
